Valencia Group breaks ground in Downtown Houston

With a lot of talk about our growth and development at Valencia Group, I’m happy to say that it’s starting to look very “real” and “official” especially as our development in Houston starts to take shape. We are thrilled to see how Hotel Alessandra will change the skyline of downtown Houston.

In mid-September, the groundwork for one of our newest hotels- Hotel Alessandra – was officially and ceremoniously laid at GreenStreet located in downtown Houston. The fun construction facts include: 8 million pounds and 200 truckloads of concrete were poured hotel alessandra in houston texasfor the 10,200-square-foot foundation mat that will be capable of withstanding upwards of 25,000 tons of weight.  Following a morning reception hosted by Midway adjacent to the site, representatives of project partners, including our Executive Team from Valencia Group, Gensler, Thompson Company, Inc., Hoar Construction and Cardno Haynes Whaley, gathered to toss commemorative coins into the slab, marking a major milestone for the project. The coins included a rendering of the exterior of the highly – anticipated Hotel Alessandra.

At Valencia Group, we commonly refer to Hotel Alessandra in the feminine form. She is the eldest of her European sister brands, Valencia and Sorella. We await her arrival and anticipate that she will be more glamorous than her younger sisters. Plans reveal a sleek and contemporary exterior coupled with sophisticated and luxurious interior finishes.The225 room, hi-rise is slated to open fall of 2016.

Also in the devenew hotel in college stationlopment is our second upper-upscale reinterpretation of the nostalgic motor courts of yesteryear, the Cavalry Court in College Station, TX. Slated to open in late summer 2016, this 141 room hotel will blend history with touches of modern amenities. The Cavalry Court will feature early military design from the 50’s and 60’s .

Cavalry Court will incorporate the rich Texas A&M traditions that represent heritage and hard work including The Parsons Mounted Cavalry, the mounted military organization within the Corps of Cadets.   A&M has long been known for its strong sense of comradery and this hotel intends to support that tradition by creating comfortable, unique hotel gathering spaces both indoor and outdoor.
